First reflection task: My metaphor
In this metaphor, I personally believe that in the teaching process there are some important things to take into consideration, such as the participants and the context itself. The gist of this process lies in the students' achievements. Nevertheless, the role that plays some scenaries are crucial for the students' development. Indeed, home and school are the educational settings in which students are involved. The former setting they have at hand is their home. Thus, parents are encharged of giving learners the enough education related to values, behavior and motivate them to learn. The later setting is the school. Here, learners can receive specialized knowledge concerning to different subjects. Furthermore, teachers tend to be the specialized people that can bring that knowledge to the students. All of these factors seem to be important in learners' success. On the whole, learners can learn through experiences because they are motivated to reach their personal projects (goals). This is possible if the scenaries mentioned above work together and efficiently.

Hi Ana,
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job with your metaphor. If you ask me I would definately say that it was a very good understanding of the students' learning context. As far as I'm concerned a teacher can offer many positive opportunities to learn, however they are immersed in a specific family context where learning process could be enhanced or limited. I totally agree with your belief about the importance of parents' involment in students learning. Finally I would say that It is very interesting the way you put the word knowledge as a key element in learners' development.
Thank you, and I would like to know if you could share some experiences related to parents' involvement.
Dear Ana,
DeleteI appreciate your comment! Through these years of experience I have learnt that education that not means only teachers' work. Parents are active partcipants of this teaching and learning process. Nonetheless, when you ask me for experiences of parents' involvement, I have to say that I have not had many. This as a consequence of their jobs and because of time. But I try to take advantage of every meeting we have to talk about their roles as parents in education.
Hello, Ana Mile, first of all I agree with you about the scenaries where the teaching and learning processes take place, but I am concerned about what is happening in some families where parents and learners are not aware of the importance of learning and consequently the students take these beliefs to school and spread to others. so we as teachers have to join to plan how to make teaching and learning meaningful for the students. it does not matter the subject we teach we know have more challenges with the students to make them critical thinkers about teaching and learning. what do you think?
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Leidy! Nowadays, we are bound to deal with the consequences of consumerism. Parents do not establish policies and rules at home, sometimes o maybe most of the time rules do not exist. If there is not commitment between the home, the school and the student is going to be a hard work. We as teachers cannot deal with everything at the same time.
DeleteHi dear Mile
ReplyDeleteWhat a captivating and beautiful metaphor!
I strongly agree with you in the sense that home and school are extremely connected and also influence in the development, growth and enhancement of the child's learning. The first values are conveyed at home and then are displayed and practiced in school. Moreover, if we work along with the community our job is greatly supported and held in high regard. Finally, I would like to add that besides receiving specialized knowledge concerning to different subjects at school, children can also have chances to reflect upon their reality, propose to change or improve things in both places, as well as recieving advice, love and fun!
Thanks for sharing these beautiful thoughts!
Thanks Nory! I really appreciate your comment. I think this is cooperative work in which all members are involved. Hugs!
